Learning Initiatives Coordinator – Language Resource Center, Cornell University
The LRC is a hub for language innovation and collaboration at Cornell University. Our mission is to connect, support, and empower language learners and teachers. The LRC provides flexible physical and virtual spaces, facilitates access to resources, and advocates best practices. Our vision is to raise awareness of the value of language learning, leverage technology in service of cultural and social experiences, and grow the language community within and beyond Cornell. The Learning Initiatives Coordinator is responsible for coordinating special language initiatives at the LRC, including the Shared Course Initiative (SCI – distance-learning classes in less commonly taught languages that are shared with Columbia and Yale Universities), 1-credit Languages Across the Curriculum (LAC) and Jumpstart classes, and Conversation Hours. Increase awareness and student participation in these language learning opportunities. Identify and maintain contacts around the university to advertise initiatives. Attend and at times co-coordinate related events such as International Fair and student orientations. Meet with interested students to describe course/event and its requirements. Coordinate SCI reverse visits and assist instructors in special programs with test and homework logistics. Other related tasks.
